This material is commonly used in the manufacture of devices that require watertight or airtight seals. They are also used to produce some types of filters.
Foam is a blown variety of rubber. However, unlike solid rubber, foam rubber is lightweight and easily compressible. The general properties of the foam rubber are the same as the parent rubber. Many rubber materials can be manufactured as foam, including neoprene, nitrile, viton, silicone, and EPDM.
The specific foam rubber you need will depend on the application. Most commonly, gaskets are manufactured from neoprene foam or EPDM foam, both of which are closed-cell materials, making them excellent water and air sealing solutions.
We can also supply open cell gaskets that are more suitable for temperature resistance in both hot and cold environments.
At VERMET, we can produce and deliver gaskets and foam inserts according to any specification, we work on the basis of sketches or technical drawings.
Our neoprene/foam gaskets and EPDM foam/sponge gaskets are manufactured in black or white, while polyethylene foam gaskets can be supplied in many colors depending on the quality required.
Gaskets can be supplied in various thicknesses (from 1 mm to 25 mm), depending on the foam base material required.
Foam gaskets with self-adhesive backing:
The adhesive backing can be applied to most of the foam gaskets we supply. Self-adhesive foam gaskets can facilitate application when fixing as a third-hand aid.
For more information on the different types of foam gaskets we can supply please visit our foam materials section on the website.
