Teflon

PTFE is a synthetic fluoropolymer that is suitable for a wide range of applications. PTFE is a white solid at room temperature with a density of approximately 2.2 g/cm³ and a melting point of 327°C. Suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -200°C to +260°C. It is used in PTFE washers, PTFE tapes or PTFE gaskets in a wide range of industries including construction, automotive, food and electrical industries.

If required, an adhesive backing can be applied to one or both surfaces of the PTFE gasket.

General characteristics – PTFE seals:

  • Low coefficient of friction – the second lowest of all solid materials. PTFE is suitable for most moving parts, so they glide over surfaces smoothly and with less effort. Suitable for bearings, gears and most sliding parts.
  • Excellent dielectric properties – one of the best thermally fixed and non-conductive plastics, making it suitable for electrical insulators in printed circuit boards.
  • Good chemical resistance – PTFE Teflon is chemically inert and non-toxic and is used in chemical laboratories for containers and stirrers that come into contact with strong acids. It is resistant to solvents up to 300°C.
